Go Cardinals Go!

It's that time of year again...NFL and the Arizona Cardinals. (who pulled out a win yesterday despite some horrible refs!!) I love Sunday football....it makes me want to make chili and grilled cheese sandwiches every Sunday! So let's hope our Cardinals have a great season!!

ALWAYS REMEMBER

I will never forget September 11th...what I was doing, how I felt, the reaction of people around me, the blue of the sky, the silence...I remembered with a heavy heart yesterday but going to the most beautiful church service. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place. It was a lovely service and pretty sure God was speaking to all of us. I thought and prayed for all of those that not only lost their lives but also those lives that were effected by all that occurred that day. I prayed for the children, the service men and women, the first responders...the list goes on and on. But I also must say...I was HIGHLY disappointed in all of those who did not bother to fly their flags at half mast. It really bothered me and can not fathom why/how this could happen. Every one claims they remember, they prayed, etc...but I saw only a handful of flags flown at half mast from my drive from outside of Quincy to Jacksonville. DISRESPECTFUL! I understand it was on a Sunday and some businesses were not open but it would not have hurt to go ahead and lower that flag on Friday before you left for the weekend. Not impressed with the lack of respect...BUT I will give props to those I did see...Passavant Hospital, Home Depot, McDonalds, Burger King and a resident on North Main. Hopefully the rest of America was not the same....
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Just Hangin' Out...

This pretty much sums up how I've felt the last week or so!

GOD IS BEAUTIFUL!

This is what I woke up to last Thursday...

And this is what I ended my day with....

God is amazing and its the little things in life that make you smile!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Well, this past Friday I went to spend the night with Grandma Barry in Liberty like I did last year. Of course Cassie and mom spent the night too and we had our annual sleepover. I hadn't seen Cassie in so long and boy as she grown so! She talks like a young lady! I could listen to her talk for hours...which is exactly what she did! We went to dinner at Mike's Place and then went to the Little Mr. & Miss Liberty contest at the park. It did get a little wet but didn't alter our fun one bit. We then went back to grandma's and just hung out and talked. Cassie of course showed off. She got to feel the baby kick and she really thought that was something else. We then snuggled up for bed as I was exhausted. She snuggled with the baby and told me that she had kind of outgrown her toys so she thinks she will donate them to Mallory for only a small fee. Too cute! She always says before she falls asleep when we are together..."Love you to the moon and stars and back. I'll be right here if you ever need me Aunt Vicki." Melts my heart. The next day we then attended the parade which is always so good. And then headed to Lila's birthday party. To top the weekend off...I attended Cheryl's graduation party for her master's as well as her dad's retirement party. Its always great seeing Cheryl! But boy, oh boy was this momma tired! I crashed hard! But what a great weekend filled with great friends and family. I know Grandma Barry probably doesn't have too many years left and its so nice to spend quality time with her. She kept saying...I've been looking so forward to this...I was almost as excited as Christmas. To make her happy is well worth any exhaustion I felt. And then little Cassie...it melts my heart just hearing her talk and her giggle. And the things she says...and of course mom and dad. Its just such a comfort to spend a few days back home.

I PASSED!

Well, I passed my glucose 3 hour test and couldn't be more excited!! It was definitely awful but we made it through. For about 35 minutes I really thought I was going to faint and/or puke. I just kept telling myself...you don't want to go through this again...keep it together Vicki. It also didn't help that the nurses couldn't get the needles in my veins so each time they would have to do it twice at least and pry around making it even worse. But all and all...not so bad and I PASSED!!!!

I FAILED!!

Well, I had to take my gestational diabetes test on Friday evening and to be quite frank it was disgusting. I was not a fan. Well, I failed! For whatever reason this morning I felt the need to call my doctor and ask how much weight I had gained so far...which I did get good news on! (lol!) She then proceeded to tell me that I failed the test and now I have to go for the three hour test Thursday morning. I am SOO nervous. I just want everything to be okay especially for the baby. I feel like its just one more thing to go through and worry about. You'd think I'd stop getting sick and but no...that's still on my plate too! So let's say lots and lots of prayers that I pass this next one or special diet and lots of testing for this girl. Has anyone had gestational diabetes while pregnant? If so, message me so I can have you answer all 1000 of my questions.

Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

Yes, Survivor South Pacific starts September 14th for 90 minutes and I couldn't be more excited!! Ozzy and Coach (Dragon Slayer) are returning which I'm not quite sure how I feel about that but still LOVE LOVE LOVE Survivor so no matter who is on the show I will always love it. So you know how my Wednesday nights will be spent for the next few months...as well as many future blogs!

Purple, Purple, Purple

So we have decided that purple will be the nursery color and I think we may add a few butterflies here in there for some touch...I couldn't find much of what I wanted to post on here but I think purple butterflies it is for little Miss Mallory. I think God has led us in the right direction as all week long there have been two purple butterflies that have not left our backyard. I see them every morning and since I believe so strongly in signs, I feel this is a big one. My plan for the nursery is to make it very calming, soothing, elegant with a little bit of country. I think this is going to be our nursery bedding....

Take a look!!! She is getting more and more clothes as well as her first teddy bear. I can't believe in just a few short months...she will be here! Will we have enough time to get everything together? I sure hope so...Didn't get much accomplished this weekend as I'm fighting a cold and of course was getting sick two of three nights like something fierce. But I think Mick is getting more and more motivated the closer we get so I'm sure he will get the ball a rollin' soon! So we have any volunteers or takers on helping...we sure will take it!
 ALL ABOUT THE COLOR PURPLE!!!
How the color purple affects us mentally and physically

  • Uplifting
  • Calming to mind and nerves
  • Offers a sense of spirituality
  • Encourages creativity
Purple denotes virtue and faith in Egypt.

Purple is representative of "pride" in Christianity.

In stained glass, the color purple or violet is seen as uniting the "wisdom" of blue and the "love" of red and symbolizes justice and royalty.

Purple is the color of the highest denomination poker chip = $5,000 (maybe she will be rich...lol)

"I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." -- Alice Walker

Has Autumn Arrived?

Has Autumn Arrived? Can you believe that Saturday morning/afternoon it was in the 90's and within hours it was in the low 70's? We spent our Labor Day Weekend not doing much of anything. We headed to Colchester for Lake Argyle Flea Market. The morning and afternoon I was about to have a heat stroke. We didn't even enjoy all of it because I could not keep up or keep cool. Within hours it was raining and I had a jacket on. Yesterday and today was also fall like weather. It's 68 degrees in our house with only one window open. I must say it does get me excited for the leaves to change, autumn weather, football games, wiener roasts and of course closer to baby arrivals for both Dana and I.
