Mick and I went on vacation to Colorado and WE LOVED it! We had so much fun and there were so many special memories made. Our dear friends Barb and Aaron were excellent hosts and we greatly appreciate the hospitality they gave us! I just wished they didn't live so far away!!! We had excellent views...we left Friday night and drove straight through....yes Mick's idea. But it actually ended up not being that bad...except we arrived around 4:00 A.M. and had to wake Barb and Aaron. We then headed up to another friend's place in Grand Lake, which is up in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was gorgeous. Tight sleeping quarters....a little too close for my comfort but it was a free place to stay so we dealt just fine with it. I felt like we went back in time 15 years when we arrived in this small mountain town. There we cross-country skied for the first time and have to admit that Mick and I were pretty good. I was highly impressed with both of our skills....meaning we didn't break any bones or die so I think we are pros now!! After two days in the mountains, we headed back to Lafayette (Boulder) and did so many other things...FOOD...lots and lots of great food was consumed by this girl. (The Weight Watchers Diet was put on the back burner for the week.) We hiked several times, ate delicious food, went to Golden and the Coors Factory, ate more delicious food, went to Barb's parents house up in the mountains surrounded by a beautiful lake, ate more food, went cross country skiing again, ate more food and the guys went go-karting. But it wasn't just any go-kart. It was SUPER FAST (60mph)!!! I was suppose to go but chickened out at the last minute and good thing I did because those things were fierce. They had to do training and the whole nine yards. We then ate more delicious food! LOL!
We then headed back and poor Mick drove the entire time because this girl wasn't feeling well AT ALL. I immediately wen to the doctor the next day and of course I had bronchitis and pneumonia. It was awful! I was out for over a week and still didn't feel 100%. But with every vacation, there comes illness! At least for me...
It was such a wonderful experience and can't wait to do it all again!
