Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Well, this past Friday I went to spend the night with Grandma Barry in Liberty like I did last year. Of course Cassie and mom spent the night too and we had our annual sleepover. I hadn't seen Cassie in so long and boy as she grown so! She talks like a young lady! I could listen to her talk for hours...which is exactly what she did! We went to dinner at Mike's Place and then went to the Little Mr. & Miss Liberty contest at the park. It did get a little wet but didn't alter our fun one bit. We then went back to grandma's and just hung out and talked. Cassie of course showed off. She got to feel the baby kick and she really thought that was something else. We then snuggled up for bed as I was exhausted. She snuggled with the baby and told me that she had kind of outgrown her toys so she thinks she will donate them to Mallory for only a small fee. Too cute! She always says before she falls asleep when we are together..."Love you to the moon and stars and back. I'll be right here if you ever need me Aunt Vicki." Melts my heart. The next day we then attended the parade which is always so good. And then headed to Lila's birthday party. To top the weekend off...I attended Cheryl's graduation party for her master's as well as her dad's retirement party. Its always great seeing Cheryl! But boy, oh boy was this momma tired! I crashed hard! But what a great weekend filled with great friends and family. I know Grandma Barry probably doesn't have too many years left and its so nice to spend quality time with her. She kept saying...I've been looking so forward to this...I was almost as excited as Christmas. To make her happy is well worth any exhaustion I felt. And then little Cassie...it melts my heart just hearing her talk and her giggle. And the things she says...and of course mom and dad. Its just such a comfort to spend a few days back home.

I PASSED!

Well, I passed my glucose 3 hour test and couldn't be more excited!! It was definitely awful but we made it through. For about 35 minutes I really thought I was going to faint and/or puke. I just kept telling myself...you don't want to go through this again...keep it together Vicki. It also didn't help that the nurses couldn't get the needles in my veins so each time they would have to do it twice at least and pry around making it even worse. But all and all...not so bad and I PASSED!!!!

I FAILED!!

Well, I had to take my gestational diabetes test on Friday evening and to be quite frank it was disgusting. I was not a fan. Well, I failed! For whatever reason this morning I felt the need to call my doctor and ask how much weight I had gained so far...which I did get good news on! (lol!) She then proceeded to tell me that I failed the test and now I have to go for the three hour test Thursday morning. I am SOO nervous. I just want everything to be okay especially for the baby. I feel like its just one more thing to go through and worry about. You'd think I'd stop getting sick and but no...that's still on my plate too! So let's say lots and lots of prayers that I pass this next one or special diet and lots of testing for this girl. Has anyone had gestational diabetes while pregnant? If so, message me so I can have you answer all 1000 of my questions.

Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

Yes, Survivor South Pacific starts September 14th for 90 minutes and I couldn't be more excited!! Ozzy and Coach (Dragon Slayer) are returning which I'm not quite sure how I feel about that but still LOVE LOVE LOVE Survivor so no matter who is on the show I will always love it. So you know how my Wednesday nights will be spent for the next few months...as well as many future blogs!

Purple, Purple, Purple

So we have decided that purple will be the nursery color and I think we may add a few butterflies here in there for some touch...I couldn't find much of what I wanted to post on here but I think purple butterflies it is for little Miss Mallory. I think God has led us in the right direction as all week long there have been two purple butterflies that have not left our backyard. I see them every morning and since I believe so strongly in signs, I feel this is a big one. My plan for the nursery is to make it very calming, soothing, elegant with a little bit of country. I think this is going to be our nursery bedding....

Take a look!!! She is getting more and more clothes as well as her first teddy bear. I can't believe in just a few short months...she will be here! Will we have enough time to get everything together? I sure hope so...Didn't get much accomplished this weekend as I'm fighting a cold and of course was getting sick two of three nights like something fierce. But I think Mick is getting more and more motivated the closer we get so I'm sure he will get the ball a rollin' soon! So we have any volunteers or takers on helping...we sure will take it!
 ALL ABOUT THE COLOR PURPLE!!!
How the color purple affects us mentally and physically

  • Uplifting
  • Calming to mind and nerves
  • Offers a sense of spirituality
  • Encourages creativity
Purple denotes virtue and faith in Egypt.

Purple is representative of "pride" in Christianity.

In stained glass, the color purple or violet is seen as uniting the "wisdom" of blue and the "love" of red and symbolizes justice and royalty.

Purple is the color of the highest denomination poker chip = $5,000 (maybe she will be rich...lol)

"I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it." -- Alice Walker

Has Autumn Arrived?

Has Autumn Arrived? Can you believe that Saturday morning/afternoon it was in the 90's and within hours it was in the low 70's? We spent our Labor Day Weekend not doing much of anything. We headed to Colchester for Lake Argyle Flea Market. The morning and afternoon I was about to have a heat stroke. We didn't even enjoy all of it because I could not keep up or keep cool. Within hours it was raining and I had a jacket on. Yesterday and today was also fall like weather. It's 68 degrees in our house with only one window open. I must say it does get me excited for the leaves to change, autumn weather, football games, wiener roasts and of course closer to baby arrivals for both Dana and I.

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Well, I need to stay more updated on this thing. Alot has happened since the last post....we went to the doctor and found out IT'S A GIRL!!! So we have been picking out lots and lots of pink! Actually Mick is into purple. He says that pink brings out hostile things in people and that purple is more soothing and comforting. So purple it is....the nursery will be purple. And believe it or not, its been quite difficult finding bedding that I like in purple. Not as many options.
I have felt so much better lately although I still get sick a couple of times a week but not nearly as bad. So I'll take it. Funny story-woke up one Saturday morning having a bad day. Wasn't happy with my body appearance and was having quite a bad morning. Mick decided that he should take me shopping for a rocker/ottoman for the nursery. So off we went to have a day of furniture shopping. We got to the first store, waited for it to open and started our search...well didn't last long. I looked at Mick and said...honey I think I'm going to get sick. Sure enough...darted for the bathroom made it half way in and ALL OVER it went. All down the front of my shirt!! I didn't know what to do so I did the only thing I knew...I carefully took off my shirt, rolled it up in a ball and walked out in a pajama tank top. Found Mick and said honey, think its time to go. So we went home! Quite embarrassing but pretty funny now.
I can feel little Mallory moving all the time now. The first time I officially felt her move, I was just beyond myself. It was seriously the coolest, proudest, most overwhelming feeling I think I have ever experienced. Had about the same reaction when I saw her move across my stomach for the first time as well. Its truly a miracle that a life as precious as her is growing, living and depending on my body right inside of me.
We've made some progress on the house...hoping to make more progress here soon as we are running out of time. I of course totally freak out over all of this but Mick keeps his cool. Oh he's nervous its not going to get done either but handles those emotions way better than this hormonal momma. Its just hard finding the help we need and fit into everyone's schedule.
I will probably have lots of posts soon as starting this weekend we have a lot of things going on and will be able to post lots of fun pictures and stories I'm sure.
