In A Nut Shell-Written A LONG TIME AGO! LOL!

Well, an overview from the last time I wrote...which was over a month ago! YIKES!! Anyways, in May, Mallory got yet another infection. So back to the hospital we went. We got that taken care of but when we went to call Dr. McKenna we felt as though we were getting the run around. He wanted to have another "meeting" about what to do next. I was getting frustrated that he kept wanting to meet and talk but not do anything! So a friend of ours was researching some doctors at Children's in St. Louis and found one that she really liked. So I thought, what the heck! McKenna is leaving anyways so we will have to find a new specialist soon so let's check it out! Boy am I glad we did! They were phenomenal!! From the receptionist, parking garage attendant, nurses and THE DOCTOR!!! He knew exactly what was going on and was so considerate of not only Mallory but us as parents and from being from out of town. He got to the bottom of things. So as of now, he is giving her one last chance. He uped her medication and hopefully she will not get another infection. If she does, then he will go ahead with the procedure. I can not praise him or Children's enough! I am glad that we made the decision to go and that our friend found such a wonderful doctor! Am hopeful of what's to come! So go Children's!
So further more with Miss Mallory. This last week she thought she would get pneumonia! I know right! Poor little girl! I noticed that she wasn't feeling herself and kind of grumpy...which is never like. She started to get very clingy. Sure enough come Monday morning...sick! So I took her to the doctor which he said yep pneumonia. So he put her on an antibiotic and breathing treatments. It was so terrible to hear her coughing and wheezing, coughing and wheezing....Tuesday...I called back...didn't think she was getting any better. So they scheduled us in for some xrays...sure enough her lungs were cloudy and not good. She then would get a temp and then it would go back down. So I called again...they got us in and low and behold...she was worse and now has an ear infection! My heart just sank. At least it justified me calling them over and over and not just being a crazy new mother that has no idea what she's doing! So they gave her a stronger breathing treatment and a stronger antibiotic plus the other breathing treatment every four hours. It maybe has helped a little bit but the more then is still coughing and wheezing...to the point where she looses her breath and can't breath or she throws up everywhere. I don't know what to do. I guess we will be calling the doc again in the a.m. She is still very clingy and still not herself when it comes to playing or sleeping. She doesn't want to be layed down...which I understand. So I have been holding her while she sleeps...which means no sleep for momma! But that is ok...as long as she is getting what she needs...I will live...I think! It has been an extremely rough week so let's hope this upcoming week will bring brighter days.
Speaking of brighter days...Miss Mallory has been growing so much! She now is 18.3 lbs. and 28.5 inches long! She LOVES food! This is either going to be a really good thing as she will be an adventurous eater or a bad thing and will be overweight! But who cares! She eats peas, green beans, carrots, apples, cereal plus all her bottles...obviously not all of those in one day! She is sitting up by herself and is not yet crawling but is scooting around everywhere. She will go in circles, backwards and sideways. She still loves bath time and loves it when I tickle her tummy. She also loves music and lights. But I think her favorite thing to do (which who can blame her as I love it too) is PEOPLE WATCHING. Especially, little kids. I swear she could be entertained by kids all day and night and not get bored. She also really enjoys being outside. So that's Mallory's progress so far to date!

We have been busy little bees since last posting. In May, we had Cassie's birthday party. Which I'm pretty sure I enjoyed more than the kids. She had it had Scottie's Fun Spot in Quincy. And let me tell you-that is a fun spot now! They had a huge play place, arcade games, laser tag, two lane bowling alley, bumper cars and of course skating. And all things that adults can participate in too! So I did! And I loved it....until the next day when I was sore and bruised!
Our next big adventure was me dying my hair. I had the notion to become a brunette instead of a blonde so one day...I just did it! My stylist did a fabulous job too by the way. But what I was not thinking of for once was Mallory. I did not think that she would have an issue with it. So when I went to pick her up that day....she FREAKED out! She was terrified! The look on her face was of pure terror and it was because of me...her mommy! And because I had dark hair. It took her half the night to get use to it but she finally started looking at me normally and not like I had two heads, two eyes and was a stranger! But it sure did make for some good laughs....for some! For me...it broke my heart!
Our next fun event was our Florida family came to visit for the first time. Mick's sister and her kids had not had the chance to meet Mallory yet so over Memorial Day weekend they came up from Florida and boy did we have a blast. We all got to hang out and enjoy each others company. And Mallory loved them (of course because there were three kids). So we spent the weekend relaxing, cooking out and spending as much time together as possible. Mallory went "swimming" for the first time in her kiddie pool and she LOVED the water. She kept trying to drink it! She would try scooping the water up with her hand and bring it to her mouth. Adorable of course! I truly love having them around and wish that they didn't live so far away but on the positive side...guess Mallory has a place to stay when we take her to Disney four million times!
The next weekend was spent with my family back home. My sister, mom and I participated in a garage sale. My first. Not very successful but I had fun and would probably do it again! Mallory and I stayed in my sisters camper the first night and then the next night we stayed at my grandparents. My niece Cassie was there and she would just make Mallory laugh. And the things she would do to make her laugh would be so simple...like jumping on the bed, walking into the room....Too funny. I also found a picture there of when I was Mallory's age and she looks like me! I was so excited to see the resemablance. EVERYONE thinks she looks like her daddy so I was pretty pumped when I found a picture of her looking like me! YIPPIE...there is hope for her after all!
The next weekend...(I know we are busy) My parents came to stay in Jacksonville. They stayed at the "Harmony House". Friday night we went to Grant's tee-ball game, which I have to say was the most adorable thing to watch. And he is actually really good. I can't wait to to watch him grow and get even better. And attend all his games and be the crazy aunt that embarrasses him!
The next day we got a surprise visit from my friend Cheryl Lynn. She came up from Tennessee and spent the day with us. It was so good to see her again! Then I did the unthinkable...I left Mallory with my parents...overnight! I know! I know! I can't believe I did it either. The plan was to go to our friend's concert/party but my husband changed his mind and didn't want to go after we stopped by a friend's house. So very sad and disappointed...I went home at 9:30. It was so weird to not only have Mick not be there but her be gone as well. I refrained from going to pick her up and made it through the night with only a few tears shed. But you bet I went early and picked her up the next morning. We had a family reunion in Springfield and have to say it was quite enjoyable. We had a lot of fun. Afterwards, mom, Mallory and I went to Schell's! That place rocks! Mallory of course loved it too because there was people there to watch!
The next week is when we went to St. Louis. At the last minute we decided to go the night before her appointment and get a hotel room and make a mini-vaca of our trip. So we stayed at the Millinumem Hotel which was right by the arch. We walked down there and I of course took a thousand pictures. It was Mallory's first night in a hotel room and she did fabulous, like she was at home. The next morning we woke up and went to the zoo. I haven't been to the zoo in years! I LOVED IT! When we walked into the penguin house...I about cried! I LOVE PENGUINS and finally seeing them in real life....amazing! Oh and Mallory liked it too because there was people to watch! lol! But let me say that she was perfect! She was soo good. She really is a good baby but when we do things like this...I just wait for the meltdowns and the problems to happen. But nope...she was golden. The drive down she was perfect, drive back she was perfect, at the hotel, at the zoo, at the restaurant, at the hospital! Yep...she was perfect!!
So that's our fun-ness wrapped up in one HUGE nutshell! BUSY! BUSY! It wasn't a very fun blog as I just listed our events but promise to keep up with this more and more often. Especially now that Mallory is doing more and more! I love being a momma...wish us luck this week!
